6. OL E.J. Price

E.J. Price Offensive Tackle – 2016 Class
6-6, 315 pounds
Lawrenceville, Ga. (Archer)

Other top offers
Auburn, Georgia, Florida State, Michigan

Status
Price is a newer name that the Vols have jumped into contention with. He visited Tennessee for the second Orange Carpet Day in late July and tweeted that he should’ve visited sooner, and put the Vols in his top three along with Georgia and Auburn. The Bulldogs and the Tigers go a little bit further back with Price and have the proximity advantage, but UT seems to have at least put itself firmly in the running for the talented offensive tackle, who is also teammates with top WR target Kyle Davis.

 How He Fits

The first thing that stands out about Price is his frame. It’s pretty much ideal at 6-foot-6 and 315 pounds. He needs some work in the weight room, but he has the height and the frame to play early in his collegiate career. He’s not an absolute mauler in his junior film, but he moves well for his size, does a good job with his hand placement and drives his feet upon contact. A lot of the defenders he takes on end up on the ground. Has the occasional tendency to play a little high, but that comes with the territory with a player of his height.

It looks like the Vols are hoping to take about three really quality offensive linemen in this class, and they can afford to be picky. Price is the type player that Tennessee would take in a heartbeat and figure out the numbers later, though. He’d be a huge get and could be in the conversation at offensive tackle within a couple years of being on campus.
