9. It’s essentially a five-team race
Kentucky is getting better overall and could be a surprise team if a few things fall the right way for the Wildcats. But it’s hard to consider them serious contenders at this point. Vanderbilt might not win an SEC game – much less get into contention in the East.
So that leaves UT, Georgia, Florida, SC and Missouri as teams that can even really be put in the serious conversation at this point. It’s much different than the SEC West, where there’s at least an argument for all seven teams and the margin between the teams feels relatively small.
