Vols in Top Six for 2016 SF Braxton Blackwell

Tennessee is in the top six for top 2016 small forward Braxton Blackwell (6-7, 220), the Nashville native and recent transfer to Oak Hill (Va.) announced on Instagram on Tuesday afternoon.

The No. 38 player nationally according to the 247Sports Composite ranking was expected to be one of the top one or two players in the state of Tennessee in the 2016 class before deciding to leave for the elite prep school in Virginia recently. He is a consensus four-star prospect and one of the top target on Rick Barnes’ board for the 2016 class.

The Vols join Alabama, Kansas, Texas, Vanderbilt and Virginia, in no particular order, in his top six.

Blackwell won consecutive Mr. Basketball awards in the state of Tennessee in his sophomore and junior seasons and averaged 20.7 points, 10.5 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game during the 2014-15 campaign.
