1. The media believes in Tennessee as a contender in the East
The belief that Tennessee will take a big step forward in 2015 isn’t just a local thought. The media assembled in Hoover made it clear that the Vols are viewed around SEC country as a legitimate contender in the East. Tennessee being voted second in the East is the highest the Vols have been since 2007. You’d have to go back to 2005 to find a year where the Vols were voted higher. Georgia is a fairly clear favorite, and two-time defending East champ Missouri is right behind UT. But the expectations have clearly been set – the Vols have the talent this season to be a factor in the race to Atlanta.
