Bielema: Tennessee Is Going to be a Big Game

brett-bielemaTennessee and Arkansas are, arguably, the top two rising programs in the SEC heading into the 2015 season. They will also meet in Knoxville on Oct. 3.

Arkansas coach Bret Bielema, who was one of the stars of Day 3 of SEC Media Days with many of pointed and humorous comments, also commented on the matchup with the Vols and against his good friend Butch Jones.

“So to play Tennessee, Butch has done a tremendous job, what we’ll do is we’ll obviously put in a lot of spring work on teams that were new,” Bielema said. “So we’re playing also two or three non-conference games that are new to our schedule. So we kind of did the same type of prep there. But Tennessee is going to be a big game.

“I like it. I love – Butch and I have known each other for a long time, and I knew he was going to get things rolling there. They played my alma mater – I’m a University of Iowa alum. I was watching that game kind of with a general interest. And then it will be unique. But I’m not too worried about it because it’s game five, and it’s a long way from being where we need to be.”

Tennessee is 13-4 all-time against the Razorbacks, but Arkansas scored a decisive 49-7 victory over the Vols in their last meeting in 2011.
