Tennessee and the SEC confirmed that the Vols will be bringing junior cornerback Cam Sutton, senior defensive end/linebacker Curt Maggitt and junior quarterback Joshua Dobbs to SEC Media Days in Birmingham, Ala., next week.
Dobbs will represent Tennessee in the new “Beyond The Field: Stories of the SEC” initiative. Each school will send one student-athlete with a compelling story outside of his athletic endeavors to be featured, according to a release put out by UT on Wednesday morning.
Dobbs, an Aerospace Engineering major, is a natural choice for the Vols in that area. Maggitt, who repped the Vols in 2014 as well, will be one of just a few players returning to Birmingham to represent their team in consecutive years. Maggitt becomes just the seventh Vol to ever represent Tennessee at multiple media days.
The three are a logical trio for the Vols with Dobbs being looked upon as the natural leader of the offense, Maggitt being viewed as the leader of the defense and Sutton being one of the most naturally gifted, yet overlooked, players on the roster. All three are good interviews with a pristine reputation on and off the field as well.
Tennessee representatives, which will include the three players and head coach Butch Jones, will make the rounds at the Hyatt Regency Birmingham – The Winfrey Hotel on Tuesday, July 14, beginning at 2 p.m. ET. The event kicks off at 12:30 pm ET on Monday, July 13 and runs through early afternoon on Thursday, July 16.
Excited to represent our team, our university, our state! #Team119 #Tennessee @SEC Media Days https://t.co/EZHH0AhUs8
