When talking about the Vols’ potential to have an elite pass-rushing unit next year, it’s usually Derek Barnett and Curt Maggitt that get most of the attention. It’s a great luxury, however, for the Vols to have an option like Vereen, who has 11 career starts, as another option to rush the passer. He may not be a starter next year for the Vols, but he would start at a lot of major programs. Injuries have slowed Vereen a bit, but if he’s used as a situational pass rusher and can fulfill some of the promise he showed early in his career, he can give the Vols even more of a presence off the edge.
