Tennessee got off to a big start in the 2017 class on Sunday evening, adding 6-foot-6, 285-pound versatile defensive lineman Jordon Riley out of Riverside High Varsity in Durham, N.C.
Riley picked the Vols over offers from Auburn, in-state schools North Carolina, NC State, Wake Forest, East Carolina and others. Riley recently visited the Vols for a camp, where he received the offer.

How He Fits
Riley has exceptional size and athleticism for his age, looking more like a college defensive lineman than a high school sophomore in his film at this point. He does a variety of things for his high school team, playing end and tackle in various three and four-man fronts. Regardless where he’s playing, he’s extremely disruptive in run and pass defense.
The Vols loaded up on the defensive line in the 2015 class, so it won’t be a top priority in 2016. But the cycle keeps going and the Vols will need to keep reloading up front with a lot of extremely talented players who could go pro. Riley’s a nice early piece in the 2017 class to help with that process.
