Find a Point Guard
Josh Richardson is gone and the Vols, once again, need a point guard. Incoming four-star freshman Lamonte Turner will enroll in July. As the roster currently stands, he’ll be the only scholarship point guard available this season. Turner is a really fundamental player with a smooth shooting stroke. How quickly he’s able to add the bulk necessary to defend his position at the college level could determine if he wins the starting job.
Braxton Bonds should provide Turner with competition at point guard. His tenacity, heady play, defense and ball handling was on display during practice last season – his teams typically won scrimmages. He can help this team but needs to work on his shooting stroke to be an impact player on the offensive end of the floor.
