Introduce Nike
Vol fans have been looking forward to this change for quite some time, and the time to make the official switch from Adidas to the swoosh is now less than a month away. Will Nike will come some changes…some good, and some – almost certainly – bad. So, it’s important for the athletic department to do all they can to make this switch as fan-friendly as possible.
New apparel for fans will be sharply criticized, but not nearly as much as the new football and, to a lesser extent, basketball uniforms. Team 119’s new threads will be analyzed down to the final stitch. “Do the oranges match?” “I don’t really like that outline.” “Is that the best font they could find?” “Is this what Tennessee has become?” “Too much gray.” “Not enough gray.”
And so on, and so forth.
This is a big switch for Tennessee that opens up endless possibilities in the future with Nike at the helm, but let’s just get the initial switch in the bag and deal with the assured fallout before worrying about everything else.
