8. Scheduling Memphis?
Tennessee’s rivalry with Memphis basketball needs to come back and everyone knows it. Donnie Tyndall was in talks with Josh Pastner about reviving the series and Rick Barnes has continued and intensified those talks.
“We would really like to be able to get Memphis back on the schedule,” Barnes said during a Big Orange Caravan stop in Memphis. “A couple of my assistants have had conversations with Josh Pastner, who I have known for a long time. It’s something he’s actually said he would consider.”
There is definite optimism that something will get done on that front and Barnes has the muscles to help speed up that process. Barnes wants to play in cities he recruits and adding an annual game with the Tigers would certainly help on that front.
