Status
Pennamon got a Vol offer in March as the Vols are searching all over the country for help at running back in the 2016 class. He hasn’t come out publicly with a ton of information on his recruitment, but the Vols looked to be joined by Arkansas near the top of his list. Several offers rolled in late in the spring, however, so this is still a pretty open process. Look for the Vols to push to get him on campus over the summer.

 How He Fits

Pennamon does a little bit of everything. Playing in a high school offense with a lot of similarities to Tennessee’s, Pennamon regularly takes handoffs out of the shotgun, gets his shoulder square and gets upfield. He doesn’t have that second-gear burst that you see from some elite prospects, but he’s a long strider in the open field and runs with enough power to make defenders bounce off if they’re not squared up.

He’s also played some receiver in his career, so he catches the ball out of the backfield well. Not an elite prospect, but could be a really good complimentary back in this class that gives the Vols more depth.
