Status
Walker is one of the consensus top backs in the nation and seems pretty firmly committed to Ohio State. So why put him in a Tennessee database? It all goes back to quarterback commitment Jarrett Guarantano. Walker is from the same state and is friends with Tennessee’s quarterback in this class and Guarantano has a large amount of influence among the top recruits in the state. We’re not ready to say the Vols have a great shot in this one yet, but he’s a name definitely worth keeping an eye on to see if UT can get him on campus.

How He Fits
A complete back who runs with power and speed, Walker is a day-one impact type of player who would see the field at Tennessee as a freshman regardless of the depth chart. The Vols actually have a pretty good pitch to running backs at this point. A top-shelf guy can come in, split carries for a year or two with Jalen Hurd and/or Alvin Kamara and then slide into the featured role around 2017, saving some wear and tear on their body, but still featuring them enough to get them to the NFL.
