7. QB Sheriron Jones

Sheriron JonesJones falls in the Richmond category a bit in that he could be basically a non-factor in 2015 or could be at the top of the list. Quinten Dormady made a strong case for the backup quarterback job this spring, but that race won’t be over until Jones gets his shot this summer and fall.

A four-star prospect like Dormady and Jauan Jennings, Jones, who originally committed to Florida, seems to have an athletic edge on Dormady, but looks to be ahead of Jennings in overall passing ability at this point based on his high school film. He’ll bring something different to the competition.

There are a lot of possible outcomes for Jones in his first season in Knoxville. He could win the backup role and be called into significant action at some point. He may get limited reps as a backup. Or, perhaps, he could be a redshirt candidate if he’s behind Dobbs and Dormady and the coaching staff wants to separate the quarterbacks in class.
