A 50-plus year streak for the Vols was broken on Saturday afternoon when no Tennessee players were selected in the NFL Draft for the first time since 1963.
Justin Coleman – thought to be the most likely Vol to be taken – went undrafted during the three-day event that concluded Saturday in Chicago. A rape indictment against former Vol linebacker A.J. Johnson also made him virtually undraftable after many projected him as a sure-fire pick last fall.
The Vols will have several opportunities to restart the streak in the coming years, but for 2015, they came up empty.
Coleman, Jordan Williams, Matt Darr, Justin Worley and Marlin Lane are among the former Vols who will be looking to sign undrafted free agent contracts in the coming day.
UFA Updates:
• Matt Darr tweeted that he’s headed to the Miami Dolphins as an undrafted free agent
• Justin Coleman is heading to the Minnesota Vikings, Tennessee has confirmed
• Jordan Williams is headed to the New York Jets, Tennessee has confirmed
• Justin Worley reportedly has a Rookie Mini-Camp invitation from the Cleveland Browns
Not sure if this has been reported yet, but Justin Worley has a rookie mini-camp invite from the Browns, per his agency.
