Defensive Line
Daniel: It was somewhat of a mixed bag for the undermanned defensive line. We saw some good, such as Andrew Butcher getting around Dontavious Blair for a big sack. But there were holes in the running game, and a few plays where there wasn’t a ton of pressure. I thought Butcher, Mosley, Tuttle and Vickers all did some good things, and that’s a good sign for a defensive line group that is loaded with talent and potential come this fall when everybody is healthy and on campus. Houston: It’s been hard to judge this group all spring due to the amount of injuries, but, given who they had healthy, I thought they turned in a solid performance yesterday. The offense struggled to run consistently up the middle and were forced wide on numerous occasions. Andrew Butcher turned in a strong performance that included four tackles (1.5 for loss) and a sack. Kendal Vickers also recorded a sack, but it was this group’s ability to hold its own in the middle that impressed me. “Wow” plays will come with the return of Derek Barnett, Kyle Phillips, Curt Maggitt…etc. but this group did enough on Saturday to earn some respect.
