8. Stephen Griffin
Maybe it was because the expectations weren’t very high for him to begin with, or maybe it had something to do with the talent that Tennessee already had at safety, but Stephen Griffin has been one of the most pleasant surprises of the spring. His athleticism and speed were easy to see from day one, but, as is the case with most freshmen, he was struggling to complete the drills that his older teammates were doing with ease. But Stephen appears to be a quick learner, because the last few practices have really allowed him to show his ability. Now, he’s still Tennessee’s fourth or fifth option at safety, but the talent is there and he’ll have the opportunity to learn behind some very talented, skilled and smart players over the next year before making a push for playing time in 2016.
