1. Lack of an experienced backup QB
I listed Joshua Dobbs as the No. 1 reason for optimism last week, but it’s also fair to point out that an injury to the dual-threat quarterback would drastically change the outlook for the 2015 season. Butch Jones took a major step in the 2015 class to address this problem, bringing in three four-star signal callers to compete behind Dobbs.
Based on what we’ve seen and heard this spring, pencil Quinten Dormady in as the most likely No. 2, though Jauan Jennings is making some progress and summer newcomer Sheriron Jones will have a say as well. Regardless, extended playing time for any of the freshmen in 2015 would certainly change the expectations in 2015.
