3. The Hurd-Kamara 1-2 Punch

Alvin Kamara-1-5We’ll save the concerns about depth at this position for later. The guys they do have there have a chance to be among the best duos in the nation. Jalen Hurd gave a heavy preview of what he could do in 2014, piling up over 1,000 yards from scrimmage and busting some big runs throughout the course of the season. He’s everything you’d want in a college back: Speed, plus size (he said he’s up to 240 this offseason), instincts, power, pass blocking, receiving and has a very competitive mentality.

It’s a two-back league, however, and that where Kamara comes in. The Alabama transfer, by way of Hutchinson Community College, has lived up to his five-star rating thus far in spring camp. He’s built much differently than Hurd and might be better in space at this point.

I still like Hurd as the starter and main back, but a 60/40 type split wouldn’t surprise me at all and, if they stay healthy, this duo could be in conversations for the best in the conference by the end of the season alongside the likes of Chubb/Michel (Georgia), Williams/Collins (Arkansas) and Henry/Drake (Alabama).
