Add Tennessee offensive line coach Don Mahoney to the extensive injury list for the Vols this spring.
Mahoney limped out to interviews after Thursday’s practice with his lower leg wrapped up. He explained that he was hurt sprinting down the field after a big run by Joshua Dobbs and joked that it was the best way to get hurt.
Tight ends coach Mark Elder verified what happened by way of a a clip of practice footage he posted on Twitter, showing Mahoney going down just as he said he did. Elder had some fun with Mahoney, adding the hashtag spelling out “You’re not a young buck anymore.”

This incident is a touch reminiscent of the recent scene of Georgia State head basketball coach Ron Hunter injuring himself while celebrating a conference title. No word if Mahoney will have to coach from a stool any this spring.
