Add cornerback to the list of positions facing severe depth questions this spring.
Butch Jones confirmed that sophomore cornerback Emmanuel Moseley will miss “a few weeks” this spring after testing positive for mononucleosis. Moseley appeared in all 13 game in 2014, starting two at cornerback.
His absence thins a position that already had some depth concerns coming into this spring. Justin Coleman has graduated, Michael Williams isn’t with the team amidst legal issues and the Vols only have two other true scholarship corners on the roster right now in Cam Sutton and Malik Foreman.
Rashaan Gaulden and Devaun Swafford are versatile players who has seen some work at nickel as well, and more help will be on the way this summer, but for now the numbers remain incredibly thin and Foreman has a great opportunity to see the benefits of that
“I’m in with the ones,” said the sophomore from Kingsport, Tenn. “So it’s a good opportunity to show what I’ve got and make some progress.”
