4. Backup quarterback
The Vols feel great at quarterback with Joshua Dobbs, but odds say that at some point in the 2015 season, Tennessee will need the backup quarterback to play meaningful snaps. The good news? There are three talented four-star signal callers behind Dobbs. The bad? They’re all incoming freshmen and have never played a down of college football.
Two of them, Quinten Dormady and Jauan Jennings, arrived on campus early to go through spring practice. Sheriron Jones joins the competition this summer and brings a ton of talent with him, but finding somebody this spring who can get a firm grasp of the offense and make the coaches rest a bit better will be a good step. Jennings has loads of potential and a competitive drive that will serve him well, but the 19-year old Dormady is the son of a coach and might come in a bit more polished. Regardless, it will be a big spring for everybody at that position.
