An intriguing matchup, indeed, as both sides have had plenty of Final Four experience. But in the end, Dickie V. and Ashley managed to out-awkward two Hall of Famers holding hands during a pre-game kiss in the wake of their intra-game, nationally televised cat fight.
For several reasons. First, Dickie V. is clearly breaking the plane of verticality. And that’s really awkward. Second, the pronounced crows’ feet emerging from Ashley’s ordinarily flawless complexion is brought about by Ashley’s (barely successful) attempt in controlling her gag reflex. Which means she’s either (a) not super great with making out with an octogenarian or (b) contending with some seriously bad breath.
And as big of a copout as it is, I’d say it’s a combination of both. Which makes their encounter even more awkward than Magic and Isaiah’s. All of which sets the table for…
