6. Not Guarding the In-bounds Pass
In light of the recent “I Hate Christian Laettner” documentary I have to point this out. I don’t care about Laettner, but as a Wake Forest fan (yes, I know) I do care about the horrifying dynasty that “The Shot” helped Duke produce for years to come. Rick Pitino failed to realize what (admittedly, in retrospect) almost any YMCA coach could tell you, it is SO MUCH HARDER to throw a pass 70 feet accurately when a giant man is in your face.
Kentucky, the class of college basketball, created a monster when they should have hung another banner. Even when Kentucky dominates a sport they figure out a way to lose and screw everyone else in the process.
