Tylin Oden
Columbia, Tenn.
6-5, 180 pounds
★★★
Thoughts: Oden’s a guy that a few of us at RTI have liked a lot since the Vols offered him after the 2014 regular season. His upside is enormous. He has the height, the athleticism and the instincts to be a quarterback at a high level. He named Louisville (Bobby Petrino does know a thing or two about QBs) his leader earlier this week, but that was before the news about Kendall was official, so it’ll be interesting to see if that changes anything in his recruitment. The touch Oden puts on his passes is fantastic at this point in his high school career. He does have some questions though. It’s hard to say how he’d do reading a defense and making some of the tough throws – that’s something that isn’t evident in his film, but that’s something UT coaches can get a better idea of when they see him in person. Oden is a very realistic candidate at this point, and it’ll be interesting to see if UT’s turns up the heat on him. His brother, ATH Justin Oden, also holds an offer from the Vols for the 2018 class.
