4. DL Dimarya Mixon

With all the (deserved) praise of all the highly-ranked newcomers coming in on the defensive line, it’s easy to forget about somebody like the versatile Mixon – who appeared in 12 games in 2014 and played both defensive end and tackle. Opportunities should abound for him this spring with the injury list on the defensive line. Everybody is expected to be fine by the fall, but Mixon will get a ton of valuable reps over the spring and has the opportunity to carve himself a role in the defensive line rotation. In a perfect world, coach Steve Stripling would love to play 8-10 guys regularly on the defensive line, and though he doesn’t have the fanfare of some of UT’s other highly-ranked d-linemen, Mixon certainly can be a solid contributor.
