Running back
New additions: Alvin Kamara, John Kelly, Joc Bruce (commit/blueshirt), Joseph Young (commit)
Daniel: Quality isn’t my concern for UT here. Kamara is one of the best additions in the nation. He should play immediately and could be a star in the coming year or two. But after losing Kendall Bussey right before National Signing Day, the depth of this group isn’t as quite what UT would like. That concern is mitigated some by the addition of John Kelly and the expected arrival of Bruce this summer, who likely will start at running back. UT also reportedly will add three-star Joseph Young in some capacity as well. Landing somebody like Bussey, Jaason Lewis or Bryce Love would’ve been nice, however. The Vols should be fine at this position going forward if Jalen Hurd and Kamara stay healthy, but they need somebody else to step up. Grade: B
Houston: Alvin Kamara’s skill set makes him an immediate-impact type of player for Tennessee in 2015 at a position where the Vols desperately needed some help. John Kelly and Joc bruce have some work to be done before either start taking snaps away from Kamara or Jalen Hurd, but should offer solid depth, rep distribution and competition during fall camp. The apparent addition of Joseph Young is interesting, and looks like a potentially good move for Tennessee if his high school film is any indicator. Quality depth is still a concern, but if the Vols can add three more backs by this summer to go along with Kamara, then this was about as good of a class at running back as you could ask for.
