Quarterbacks
New additions: Quinten Dormady, Jauan Jennings, Sheriron Jones, Zac Jancek (walk-on)
Daniel: I don’t want to say it’s unheard of, but adding three four-star caliber quarterbacks, and a quality walk-on as well, is quite a haul for a position where it’s tough to even get two quality players in during one recruiting class. I don’t know how it’s all going to shake out, but the Vols added a lot of depth and competition behind Joshua Dobbs, and avoided what could’ve been a pretty dire situation at this position. There is a nice blend of skill sets and personalities coming in. True, they all might not stick around forever, but if UT can find an immediate backup for Dobbs and redshirt at least one of the others for future development, that will help stabilize the position for years to come. Houston: I think the Vols may have signed the best class of quarterbacks in the country. They have a well-developed pocket passer in Quinten Dormady, a big-armed dual threat talent in Sheriron Jones and a high-ceiling project with loads of athletic ability in Jauan Jennings. Jennings has the most work to do out of the three, but his mentality and ability to enroll early make it impossible to rule him out as a future option. Keeping Dormady committed as long as they did and flipping Jones away from Florida late are two recruiting wins that the staff deserves a lot of credit for. While the Vols may not have a ton of experience at the position, this may be the most talented and versatile quarterback group at Tennessee in recent memory. Grade: A
