RTI’s Take:
Daniel: Taylor is a rare athlete who is physical enough to be a defensive end, but also athletic enough to play wide receiver on the other side of the ball. Simply put, the Vols were heavy on defensive linemen this class and could’ve chosen another option, but held onto Taylor because he has immense upside. He’s a little more raw than some of the others coming in, but give him some time, possibly a redshirt season, and he could be a big factor as pass rusher.
Reed: Taylor is a phenomenal athlete that doesn’t have a clear home at Tennessee. He’s likely to play defensive end after he adds some bulk and works on his technique, but he could play a sort of hybrid linebacker/end position that Jancek likes to utilize. How quickly he finds his positional home and develops there will determine how soon he sees the field. He’s a possible redshirt this season, but the future is bright for Taylor at several positions.
