RTI’s Take:

Daniel: Sapp isn’t college ready at this point physically, but his upside is big. I envision him as a player who can help on special teams for one or two years and then grow into his frame and be in the conversation to start at outside linebacker in a couple years. A rangy linebacker who can play the run or cover a tight end or back effectively can be incredibly valuable against a spread offense, especially one that plays with a lot of tempo. Expect the Vols to keep looking for players like him in the next few classes and he has a chance to be a two-year starter at least if all goes well.

Reed: Sapp has loads of potential. He’s rangy, fast, reacts quickly and is fantastic in coverage. He needs to put on about 20-30 pounds before he sees the field consistently at Tennessee, but if he can maintain his current level of athleticism as he adds weight, he’ll be a very nice outside linebacker for the Vols. He’s not one that I expect to challenge for significant playing time this season. Look for him to contribute on special teams or potentially redshirt while he develops.
