RTI’s Take:
Daniel: His long arms and technique really stand out on film. He does a good job of controlling offensive linemen, getting off blocks and getting to the quarterback or the ball carrier. He isn’t nearly as college ready as somebody like McKenzie, but don’t sleep on Picou. The Vols are trying to get the defensive tackle position to a spot where they can rotated about six guys in at any given point and the depth in this class with guys like Picou should give them a chance to do just that.
Reed: The Vols needed to add some true defensive tackles in this class and Picou certainly fits that bill. He has ideal size and is probably ahead of most of his peers from a strength perspective. He can overpower opponents – bull rushing the QB is probably his greatest strength at this point. He needs to continue to get stronger, work on getting off blocks and develop a little as a pass rusher, but he has a high ceiling and the strength to really hold his own from the moment he steps on campus.
