RTI’s take:

Daniel: Abernathy is really everything you would want in a likely cornerback, though he does have some position versatility, including safety or possibly even running back if depth gets really thin there. He has good size, good length and comes from a great family that knows what Butch Jones and his staff is all about after brother Ralph David IV, who is expected to join the Vols as a graduate transfer this summer, played for Jones at Cincinnati.

Reed: There may not be a more overlooked prospect in this class. Abernathy is an elite athlete who primarily played running back and cornerback in high school. He has the top end speed and the vision to be a home run threat on offense, but is likely to play corner at Tennessee. Don’t rule him out being an impact player this season. He has the frame and athleticism to perform at a high level and Tennessee needs to find two cornerbacks to play significant snaps this year.
