RTI’s Take:
Daniel: In speaking to the early enrollees, Jennings stood out as the most competitive of the bunch, stating his expectation to work at quarterback this spring and to get to play early. He might be the most raw of the likely three incoming QBs in this class, but he has huge upside. He’s a phenomenal athlete who appears to have the personality of a natural leader as well. It’s doubtful that he’ll be the starting QB right away, but he might be the type of player the Vols have to find a way to get on the field in some capacity.
Houston: Jennings will get every opportunity to earn a spot on the quarterback depth chart this spring, and could have the inside track on early reps behind Dobbs as Dormady recovers from his shoulder injury. Jennings is an elite athlete and possesses the leadership qualities that every coach would want in a quarterback. He has developed his game as a passing quarterback, and, if he continues to improve, could be a player that makes a lot of noise at the position for Tennessee in the near future.
Reed: There probably isn’t a dual-threat quarterback prospect in the country that developed as much as a passer last fall as Jennings. He worked so hard at his craft that he was reclassified from an athlete to a dual-threat quarterback by many of the recruiting services. How much he continues to progress as a passer will determine his ultimate role, but the sky is the limit for Jennings. For now, he’s likely to be competing for the backup QB position.
