RTI’s Take:

Daniel: Griffin is a rangy athlete who did a little bit of everything on both sides of the ball for his high school team. He’ll play defense in Knoxville, and safety will likely be his first home, though he could also be a cornerback or a nickelback if the coaches want to experiment down the road. He doesn’t pop out as an elite athlete on film, but he can cover a lot of space with his long strides, and he’s a ball-hawk on film that’s also not afraid to come up and make a big hit on defense.

Houston: I’m interested to see where Griffin ends up for the Vols. He will likely play a lot of special teams in his first year, but could also carve out a role at a couple spots in Tennessee’s secondary due to his versatility. I don’t think he’s the type of player who is a day-one starter, but is a guy who has a chance to grow into a contributor and solid player for Tennessee during his time in Knoxville.

Reed: When discussing the 2015 class, Griffin gets lost in the shuffle. He doesn’t have the star power of many of his cohorts, but he’s not short on talent. Though he’s not flashy, his length and stride project well at defensive back as he develops. He’s not likely to make an immediate impact with the exception of a possible role on special teams.
