Five Signing Day Questions for Tennessee

Butch Jones-1-43Q: Where will the 2015 class finish in the rankings?

A: The current recruiting standings (as of early Tuesday morning) for Tennessee are as follows:

Current Class rankings:
Rivals.com: 5th Nationally
Scout.com: 2nd Nationally
247Sports: 2nd Nationally
ESPN.com: 5th Nationally

By the time all is said and done on Wednesday, I would say Tennessee will be in the top-10 on every site, and stay in the top-5 on Scout and 24/7 with an outside shot at Rivals. I say this because a lot of schools behind Tennessee are battling for the same recruits, and if one school were to hit the jackpot on National Signing Day, then the Vols could get jumped. USC is set to close strong and will likely challenge for the top spot. Auburn, Ole Miss and LSU are all in the mix for some top-rated guys as well, so it’s hard to say if Tennessee will have enough points to maintain their lead over all three of those schools. Officially dding Richmond would go a long way towards keeping the Vols in or around that top-5 spot, but they may still have enough on a few.

Regardless of where they ultimately finish – and barring a total meltdown – this class is outstanding. The staff will have signed difference-makers at nearly every level on both sides of the ball and, once again, proved that they have what it takes to recruit against the best programs in the country and come out on top. Unfortunately, some will base their opinion of this class on whether or not Drew Richmond flips on Wednesday. And while that looks more likely with each passing minute, nothing is over until his fax is in. Regardless of what he does, however, Tennessee’s football team will have continued their progress in the right direction by the end of the day on Wednesday.
