Five Signing Day Questions for Tennessee

Drew Richmond-1-4

Q: Does Drew Richmond sign with Tennessee?

A: Ahh, yes, the million-dollar question. I will say this to start; regardless of what happens between now and Wednesday, Tennessee’s staff deserves a lot of credit for how they have handled Drew Richmond’s recruitment. They didn’t pressure him and they didn’t crowd him, but they also never gave up on him and did a nice job of communicating with him throughout the process. They also made sure that fans and other Vol commits were aware of how important Richmond was to this class – so he never stopped hearing about Tennessee.

As far as what he ultimately decides…Put me in the ‘Richmond is a Vol’ camp. Rumors and reports began to circulate on Twitter late Monday night that Richmond had officially decommitted from Ole Miss (something we were able to confirm later that night). It appears that the writing is now on the wall. Look, nothing is ever certain, but Richmond and his family had a great visit this weekend. He has a chance to play early and often if he were to become a Vol, he has a great opportunity to represent his home state and he would be joining a lot of players that he has become very close with over the last few years. He is extremely close with Kyle Phillips and Vincent Perry, and has become great friends with Kahlil McKenzie – who deserves an assist if Richmond faxes his letter of intent to Butch Jones on Wednesday. I may live to regret this, but yes, I think Drew Richmond officially signs with the Vols on Wednesday.
