Q: Are there any last-minute flip risks?
A: It’s recruiting, so I’ll say yes. I also think that Tennessee’s staff does a great job of minimizing flip risks by being great communicators and facilitators of conversation among other recruits and committed players. Before yesterday, I would have said that Kendall Bussey was the biggest risk simply because he was coming off of a good visit to Texas A&M and because he didn’t appear to be enjoying his visit to Knoxville very much when all of the recruits were at the basketball game on Saturday afternoon. We actually discussed him as a decommitment risk on RTI Radio on Monday minutes before he announced that he would be signing with Texas A&M.
With Bussey making it official, though, it’s hard to point at any one player as a real threat to leave the class and sign elsewhere on Wednesday. Before Monday I may have said that Preston Williams and Justin Martin were the most likely players to flip, but both apparently really enjoyed their time in Knoxville this weekend and each tweeted out that they would be signing with Tennessee.
If I had to name a few guys to maybe keep an eye on, I would say Venzell Boulware, Sheriron Jones and Darrell Taylor – simply because they all have a lot of schools still pursuing them extremely hard and recruiting is never finished until papers are signed. Boulware, reportedly could be having some second thoughts as news of Drew Richmond’s decommitment from Ole Miss begins to spread.
Keep an eye on Venzell Boulware now for #Vols who is now re-thinking #Buckeyes with Richmond news. pic.twitter.com/c6oyFC3dho
