Arian Foster Claims He Was Paid $50K at Tennessee

Never short on words, Arian Foster sent out a few more this week in an interview on the Dan LeBatard Show regarding his time at Tennessee. In the interview, Foster claims that he was paid as much as $50,000 by boosters while at Tennessee and took free handouts whenever he was presented with the opportunity to do so.

As news of Foster’s interview began making the rounds on Twitter, Foster responded with tweets saying that his comments were said as a joke and should not be taken seriously.

This isn’t the first time that Foster has claimed he received illegal benefits in his time at Tennessee. Last year, Foster said in a documentary that he received extra food and benefits from members of Tennessee’s coaching staff. Here’s an excerpt from that documentary from an article that Sports Illustrated ran when footage of the documentary was made public

“I called my coach and I said, ‘Coach, we don’t have no food. We don’t have no money. We’re hungry. Either you give us some food, or I’m gonna go do something stupid.’ He came down and he brought like 50 tacos for like four or five of us. Which is an NCAA violation. [laughs] But then, I walk up to the facility and I see my coach pull up in a brand new Lexus.” — Arian Foster

Here’s a collection of some of Foster’s tweets from this afternoon:
