We’re in the fifth day of Tennessee’s offensive coordinator search after Mike Bajakian unexpectedly left for a job as the QBs coach at Tampa Bay last Thursday.
We know Mike DeBord was in town over the weekend and, at this point, it seems safe to call him the leading candidate, but names keep surfacing as the Vols haven’t made any official hire as of Monday afternoon. We’re keeping an updated list of potential candidates that have been mentioned to us by sources or just make sense based on a scheme/connection fit, and will continue to do so until the Vols make anything official.
Reminder that it’s unclear if Butch Jones will look to hire somebody who can be a quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator like Bajakian, or if he’ll look for the best overall candidate and then slide the other assistants around as needed, so we’re just looking at people who could be the OC and then we’ll see what happens after that.
This list should not be considered exhaustive – rather, it’s done to give you an idea of some names to watch and the types of coaches Jones might be looking at. We can’t guarantee that all of these potential candidates have been contacted and there definitely could be others as well. This list is subject to change regularly.
