Matt LaFleur

Current role: QBs coach at Notre Dame

The connection: Jones and LaFleur are both Michigan natives who had one year of crossover experience in 2004 when Jones was the OC at Central Michigan and LaFleur was an offensive assistant

Pros: LaFleur brings some NFL experience after stints with the Houston Texans from 2008-09 (offensive quality control) and the Washington Redskins from 2010-13 (quarterbacks coach). He has some familiarity with Jones and could slide right into Bajakian’s former role as OC/QBs coach without having to shuffle any other coaches.

Cons/Questions: LaFleur has virtually no experience calling offenses except for one season at Ashland College in 2007. While he’s coached at the NFL and major college levels, he hasn’t had a fantastic track record with the QBs he has worked with. There’s a little bit of overlap with Jones, but it’s hard to say how much their offensive philosophies would line up.
