10. Who are the breakout players?
They didn’t come out of nowhere, but it was hard to predict the type of seasons that guys like Derek Barnett and Jalen Reeves-Maybin had in 2014. Who will follow that path in 2015? Maybe it’s somebody like RaShaan Gaulden, Cortez McDowell, Coleman Thomas, Dillon Bates or Josh Malone, who played some in 2014, and then turns a great offseason into a huge campaign in 2015. Maybe it’s a recruit such as Kendall Bussey, Marques Ford, Micah Abernathy or Jack Jones that isn’t getting a lot of five-star hype, but comes in and surprises people. Or maybe it’s somebody who was really good such as Jalen Hurd and finds a whole new level and reaches heights that aren’t even predictable yet. Part of the fun of the offseason is seeing how guys develop and figuring out who those types might be. We’ll know a lot more in just a couple months when spring practice gets underway.
