Vols Active in the Northeast in Recruiting

Butch JOnes-1-33Several of the coaches are on the road this week and the Vols covered quite a lot of ground northeast of Knoxville on Thursday, with several prospects buzzing about visits from Butch Jones and other assistants.

The most notable development was the commitment of four-star tight end Devante Brooks of Washington D.C., who decided to the pledge to the Vols after months of Tennessee being near the top. The 6-foot-5, 225-pound prospect missed his junior season with a torn ACL, but has a lot of upside. You can read more about his commitment here.

Butch Jones also saw four-star quarterback Jarrett Guarantono (Oradell, NJ). The Vols already have quite a lot of quarterbacks in the mix and have 2016 commitment Austin Kendall on board as well, but as we’ve seen over the past few weeks, there’s no such thing as too many of that position, so Jones will keep working on all options for the foreseeable future.

The Vols also offered 2016 four-star quarterback/athlete Jordan Fuller (Westwood, NJ), a top-100 caliber player with multiple big-time offers.

Jones also visited with four-star offensive tackle JP Urquidez (Hyattsville, Md.), an impressive-looking four-star player at a big position of need going forward.

Obviously there’s still work to be done on the 2015 class, but having 10 early enrollees and many other solid commitments at this point allows Jones and his staff to look down the road even more, and as you can see from some of these stops, the coaching staff is building relationships that should pay off down the road for the Vols.
