Status
Tennessee has appeared to be in good shape with Sapp for a long time, but time may be running out. While Sapp regularly mentioned the Vols among the teams pursuing him the hardest, there have been some rumblings that the Vols may be out of room at linebacker in the 2015 class. His visit appeared to go well over the weekend, but there’s still no official word on if Sapp will be joining the 2015 class.

 Outlook

Sapp is a tall, rangy linebacker who would be a natural fit as an outside linebacker in Tennessee’s 4-3 scheme.

With the nickel becoming more of the base defense, linebackers like Sapp who can cover are becoming more valuable, even if they don’t have ideal size. Overall linebacker depth isn’t where it needs to be for UT right now, so even with Darrin Kirkland Jr. and Austin Smith already on board in this class, the Vols still could add more and Sapp is the leading candidate.
