5. Vols battle between the hedges, come up short at Georgia
Given a week off after their trip to Oklahoma, the Vols looked extremely sharp in their next road game at Georgia, jumping out to a 10-0 lead against a team that ended up winning 10 games in the season. Justin Worley was efficient all afternoon and had he not left the game due to injury for a few series, this game could’ve turned out differently. Ultimately, it was the strong running of Todd Gurley and a few costly gaffes on offense – most notably a fumbled handoff in the end zone that gave Georgia a free touchdown – that kept Tennessee from upsetting the No. 12 Bulldogs on the road. But Tennessee looked like a promising squad that could make some noise in 2014 after this effort between the hedges.
