Joshua Dobbs-1-210. Missouri loss wraps up tough week

This was a tough bump in the road for a team that gained a ton of momentum late in the season. It wasn’t just the game itself, but also some of the off-the-field issues that surrounded it as well. Linebacker A.J. Johnson and cornerback Michael Williams were suspended during the week in the midst of a rape investigation that cast a shadow over the team’s upswing late in the season. Playing without those two and a few other players due to suspension/injury, Tennessee, who was favored in the game, couldn’t hang physically with a veteran Missouri team that won the battle at the line of scrimmage and built a 16-point lead in the fourth quarter. The Vols rallied late, scoring a TD and two-point conversion to get it to within one score, but after a crazy sequence of onside kicks and questionable calls, Missouri kept the ball and ran out the clock for the road win.
