Quarterbacks
Daniel: Joshua Dobbs bounced back nicely after a rough game throwing the ball at Vanderbilt. He didn’t put up huge numbers through the air, but he was a very efficient 16-of-21 for 129 yards, a touchdown and threw just one interception (off the hands Pearson) and took only one sack against a defense that, statistically speaking, was pretty good. But, again, it was his running that really gave the Vols a spark. Dobbs mixed in scrambles and designed runs for 13 carries, 76 yards and two touchdowns. He missed a couple throws and his interception could’ve been thrown a little better, but if he plays that well going forward, UT will win a lot of games with him at the helm. Grade: A
Houston: He wasn’t flawless – the lone interception coming on a high pass to Von Pearson – but Joshua Dobbs continues to impress with his development at the position. Dobbs finished the day going 16-of-21 for 129 yards and a touchdown to go along with the interception, but also added 76 yards and two additional scores on the ground on 13 carries. A couple of overthrows show room for improvement, but this is clearly Joshua Dobbs’ team moving into 2015. He escaped the Iowa rush to turn negative plays into big gains, and made a couple of elite throws that showcased his potential. His MVP honors were well-deserved. Grade: A-
Reed: After struggling a little against Vanderbilt and Missouri, this was a big game for Joshua Dobbs and he came through in a big way. His lone turnover came on a pass that, though it was a bit high and a little hit, hit Von Pearson in the hands. His legs provided a spark and he was extremely efficient passing the football. He posted his second best adjusted QBR of the season (92.5) and finished the season 20th nationally in QBR (73.6) – one spot behind Jameis Winston and two spots behind Bryce Petty. Grade: A
