Blair likely won’t play a snap against Iowa as he wraps up what appears to be a redshirt season, but that doesn’t mean this month won’t be huge for him. The junior college transfer was penciled in by many (including the coaching staff, we’ve been told) as the opening-day starter at left tackle this past season, but the 6-8, 300-pounder, was never able to work his way into that position or even see the field at all.
The coaching staff decided the junior needed a developmental season before being thrown into the mix, meaning he’ll return as a redshirt junior next year and should be in the conversation with the Vols desperately looking for help at the tackle position in particular. It’ll be a big month for Blair, Coleman Thomas and Brett Kendrick as the Vols begin the battle for 2015 playing time early.
