His athleticism is obvious to anybody who watched the second half of the season. It was somewhat of a limited sample size (14 returns), but Berry finished fifth in the nation in kickoff return average (29.5 yards per attempt) and was right on the verge of taking multiple kicks back to the house. Tennessee loves his potential at that spot, but how else can the Vols utilize him? That’s one thing the coaching staff will continue to evaluate during bowl practices.
He got a quick look at running back in the middle of the season, but not much has materialized there, even with the Vols lacking depth at that spot. It seems like safety is his future home, though he hasn’t seen any meaningful game reps there yet. It’ll be interesting to see what ways the coaching staff figures out to utilize his skill set.
