5. Marquez North gives the Vols some breathing room against Arkansas State
There were a few nervous moments against Arkansas State in Week 2. There wasn’t one defining play that prevented the upset, but Marquez North’s leaping 14-yard touchdown grab with 7:52 remaining in the third quarter gave the Vols a three-score lead after the Red Wolves stuck around prior to that. Arkansas State would keep clawing and get the deficit down to 12 points again in the fourth quarter with some chances to make it closer, so that North TD was big in preventing a catastrophe that almost certainly would’ve derailed UT’s bowl hopes.
