Report Card: Tennessee 24 Vanderbilt 17

 Offensive Line

Daniel: It wasn’t quite as bad as last week’s meltdown against Missouri, but the level of competition was significantly lower as well. Vanderbilt got to Joshua Dobbs three times for sacks, and, as always, Dobbs probably erased what should’ve been more by breaking tackles or getting out of the pocket. The run game didn’t consistently have room (3.8 ypc), though missing Jalen Hurd obviously played a major role in that. Against a Vanderbilt defense that simply isn’t that good, the offensive line didn’t really play that well overall. Grade: D

Houston: The Commodores were able to sneak into the backfield 12 times to tackle Tennessee ball carriers and got to Joshua Dobbs three times for sacks. The three sacks tied Vanderbilt’s season high for a single game, and that number would likely been higher had Tennessee not elected to predominantly run the football in the second half. They didn’t get the push that most expected, but injuries to some linemen and no Jalen Hurd probably made them look worse than they actually were. Grade: C-

Reed: Vanderbilt’s defense got way too much pressure on Dobbs, registering three sacks. The Commodores recorded an alarming 12 tackles for loss – they averaged just 5.8 per game this season. This group flat out got whooped for the second straight week. They did get just enough push in several short yardage situations, which saves their grade a bit. Grade: D-
